Akyereko Frimpong Manson's Team-of-the-Week: Ghanaian Players Abroad
Team of the Week

GHANAsoccernet.com's Akyereko Frimpong Manson runs the rule over the best Ghanaian performers from across the various leagues over the weekend.

Here's my team of the week. What do you reckon? Do you agree? If not, select your own team and let's see below.

Formation: 4 - 2 - 3 - 1

Adam Kwarasey - Stromsgodset (Norway)

Though Stromsgodset's 2-0 victory over Bodø / Glimt appeared smooth on the surface but it was a triumph well guarded and protected by the 26-year-old. Bodø / Glimt - Godset's visitors posed enough formidable threat to merit a goal at the Marienlyst Stadion but the feline agility and sturdiness of the man in the 12 shirt ensured they ended the game without a goal. Stromsgodset's first clean sheet of the season.

Mitch Apau - RKC Waalwijk (Holland)

Despite RKC Waalwijk's 3-0 home reverse against Heerenveen on the final day of the season, the 24-year-old Dutch-born right-back distinguished himself on the evening. He was decent with his distributions, exhibited an extraordinary vision on the ball and won most of the challenges he went in for. None of Heerenveen's three goals came from his side.

Daniel Opare - Standard Liege

Standard Liege recorded their first win in five games with a 4-1 drubbing a stubborn Zulte-Waregem side at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne in Friday's only kick-off in the Championship Play-offs. Opare's main contribution in the game was keeping the illustrious Thorgan Hazard (Eden Hazard's younger brother) at bay. And he did that so remarkably that the Chelsea loanee was unnoticed in the entire duration of the game until he converted a penalty in the 68th minute.

Francis Dickoh - FC Midtjylland

If you set on a mission to find the most improved Ghanaian player in Europe this season, then you would need go no further beyond Francis Dickoh. After his ill-spell in Belgium with Cercle Brugge, the 31-year-old returned to his country of birth and is making the impact, bringing his experience and ability to bare for giants FC Midtjylland. In Sunday's triumph over Vestsjaelland at the MCH Arena, Dickoh used his strong physical presence to ensure his side remained strong in defence and won the tie with a 3-1 victory. Voted Man-of-the-Match.

Johan Kappelhof - FC Groningen

Keep on getting better and better. Holland manager Luis van Gaal has already looked at the defender who is of half-Ghanaian descent. His superior aerial ball ability and aptness in clearance was felt strongly by Kwame Quansah and his Heracles Almelo brothers who were dispatched 3-1 at the Euroborg.

Rabiu Mohammed - Kuban Krasnodar

Rabiu Mohammed was introduced in the 65th minute by Kuban Krasnodar and he grabbed his maiden goal in the Kuban colours four minutes late. The technique and precision in application to scoring the goal was an elaboration of his qualities at his role. It was a statement about his return to form.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu - Udinese

Badu was imperious in midfield for Udinese as he scored in the 21st minute in their 5-3 victory over Livorno at the Stadio Communale Fruili. The goal his fourth of the campaign for Les Zebrettes.

Andre Ayew - Olympique de Marseille

Marseille hammering Lyon 4-2 at the Stade Velodrome on Sunday night was a remarkable victory for the Les Olympians. And Andre was a remarkable influence for Jose Anigo's men. Lyon's defenders failed to cope with his dazzling moves and skills and resilience in front of attack. Though he did not contribute directly to any of Marseille's four goals, the dangers posed by the Liverpool target forced the Lyon defenders to stay behind.

Nana Akwasi Asare - KAA Gent

The versatile winger starred in a defensive-attacking role for Gent who enhanced their qualification chances with a 4-0 thrashing of Lierse SK. His ability to surge and freely join the attack to create chances and opportunities for the Gent attack made his extra useful for his side.

Kevin-Prince Boateng - Schalke 04

Jens Keller's tight-lips on the future of the former AC Milan star at the Veltins Arena could mean a summer departure to AS Roma and if his performance on Saturday afternoon is anything to go by, then the Royals Blues are set to tire in a bid to replace him. Boateng was an absolute class in a central midfield role and Freiburg's Schuster, Schmid and Klaus had little chances against him as he salvaged and gagged for his savouring advantage.

Jordan Ayew - Sochaux (France)

Sochuax and relegation survival is the most common theme you could find at Montbeliard in the latter stages of the season. One man leading the campaign and heralding the fight is Jordan AYEW! The Black Stars attacker prodigiously scored a 56th minute match winner at the Stade Auguste-Bonal to help Herve Renard's men to a bracing 2-0 win over OG Nice. His fourth Ligue 1 goal since January.
