UAE giants Al Ain will today speak to Asamoah Gyan before deciding whether to make a formal complaint to the AFC over alleged racial abuse of their striker.
Gyan accused Al Hilalââ¬â¢s Mihai Pintilii of abusing him after his sending off during Al Ainââ¬â¢s 2-1 Champions League semi-final secÃond-leg win over the Saudi side on Tuesday, which saw the Boss exit the competition 4-2 on aggregate.
The Ghanaian was dismissed with 20 minutes remaining after an ugly scissor tackle on Al Hilalââ¬â¢s Salem al-Dawsari and as he left the field Romanian midfielder Pintilii was seen to shout at him.
Gyan claimed after the game that Pintilii, who he described as Hilalââ¬â¢s ââ¬ÅNo25ââ¬, said: ââ¬Åsomething he had no right to tell me.ââ¬
He then added: ââ¬ÅHe knows what he said, you can ask him. He knows what he said.ââ¬
Gyan yesterday posted a message on his Twitter account stating ââ¬Åit happenedâ⬠with a link to an article on his official website claiming he was subjected to ââ¬Åracist abuseââ¬.
Al Ainââ¬â¢s players were given the day off yesterday and will return to training today where club officials expect to speak to Gyan and get the full story.
A meeting will then be held to determine whether the player and the club have justification to make a formal complaint to the AFC.
