Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has admitted he was pleased with his side's performance after Ghana winger Albert Adomah scored a brace to lift them to an easy 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the League Cup on Tuesday night.

Boro cruised into the fourth round of the Capital One Cup as they extended their winning run to five matches with a comfortable victory over Wolves.

Adomah,26, scored twice with Diego Fabbrini also finding the target, as Aitor Karanka’s side carried their impressive league form into the cup.

Karanka restored the Ghana international into his squad after a somewhat little row over a requested transfer and he has justified his influence by scoring thrice in three games since returning.

The Spanish gaffers admitted he was satisfied after their overwhelming display over fellow Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

"They (Wolves) changed nine players and they wanted to impress and I told my team sometimes it's a headache to pick the first 11. The second half was different and was better so I have a headache."

"All of them (my team) have a lot of qualities. One goal can change everything so we had to be sure. The first goal was important because we didn't have a lot of chances today. We didn't have injuries so everything was perfect.

"We are in the next round and now we can think about Sunday."
