Algerian coach Christian Gourcuff feels Lorient is an ideal club for promising Ghana striker Jordan Ayew.

The 22-year-old has joined the French Lique 1 side from Marseille on a four-year deal.

Gourcuff, who attempted to sign the Ghanaian international during his time at Lorient has lauded the quality of the third son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele.

“Lorient is the ideal club for the younger brother of Andre Ayew for him to show his talent,” he told French newspaper L'equipe.

“Jordan Ayew is a player with great potential, a young player with a future ahead of him, and can get better.

“The fact that he chose to come is certainly a sign of ambition. But it also corresponds to a real need to strengthen, because we lost major players. That's how we stay competitive.”
