Former Ghana FA boss Alhaji MND Jawula says quotes suggesting he was backing Maxwell Konadu to lead Ghana at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations were taken out of context.

Jawula says he never clamoured for Avram Grant’s appointment as the next Black Stars coach to be delayed for Konadu to carry on.

He however admits he called for the bolstering of the technical team with some home grown coaches during an appearance on Ghana TV’s Sunday Night Live Programme.

“I never said I wanted to Maxwell to go to the AFCON as the coach, No,” Jawula told GHANASoccernet.com

“I only said it would be good if he goes with Grant and assist him, he would learn a lot from him to add to his already acquired knowledge.

“Maxwell is my boy and I brought him to RTU but I did not say he should be handed the job on a permanent basis.

“I admit I spoke about the need to spend money in upping local coaches like CK and co but that’s as far as I went.”
