King Faisal President Alhaji Kari Gruzah has kicked against proposal to use portions of the financial gains from the 2014 World Cup to develop other sporting discipline, insisting the money should be solely used to  develop football.

The country’s Sports Ministry plans to use portions of the cash to build a modern boxing gymnasium in Bukom – the boxing hub of Ghana while also refurbishing the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex to cater for the other sporting disciplines such as swimming, volleyball, basketball and lawn tennis.

The Ghana FA has agreed to the proposal from the Ministry which will help to give a facelift to the other disciplines crippling under lack of financial support.

But King Faisal President, Karim Gruzah has kicked against the move, claiming it’s a misplaced priority.

“I don’t understand why they should use World Cup to develop other sports. Why should it be so? he quizzed

“The money should be used to develop football only. This is World Cup money, not boxing money.

“Do we play football in the gym or what? Every discipline should solicit for their own financial support.

“We can’t use our football money to develop other sports. I am totally againt that proposal.

“To be honest with you, it doesn’t make sense to me at all.”
