New Edubiase defender Iddrisu Yahaya says he was saved from death by divine miracle in last Sunday's Ghana Premier League match against AshantiGold.

The former King Faisal and Asante Kotoko defender claims he had been diagnosed with severe Malaria days before the game but was begged by officials into playing the derby match which they won by 2-0.

He then suffered a near collapse after the game and has been hospitalized since then.

The 26 year old insists he would have died because his club do not a well equipped medical team.

"I am on my hospital bed as am speaking to you now but I really went through a terrible time after the match on Sunday,"  Yahaya told Kumasi-based Angel FM

"I had been suffering from Malaria so I didn't train throughout the week but I really wanted to play in that match because most of our defenders were out of the game and also our position on the table wasn't the best."

He added: "I took some medications and it seemed like I had recovered on Friday so some of the officials begged me to play if I had recovered so I heeded and joined the team."

"We don't have a team doctor to ascertain whether or not I was fit enough to play so I also went on to play after I was given some injections but I collapsed after the game and I was rushed to the hospital.

"I don't know whether I had collapsed or not but all I saw was being on my hospital bed and that is where I have been since then.

"I could have died that day either on the pitch or on my way to the hospital but God saved me.

"It's an advice to my fellow players because if I had died, I would have died just like that."
