Referee Yaw Ametepe suspects foul play over his six-week ban for awarding a penalty to New Edubiase in their Week 21 league match against All Stars.

The Ghana FA’s Executive Committee approved the decision taken by the match review panel but Ametepe insists he is being victimized for committing no crime thus his decision to quit refereeing.

“It is indeed sad times for Ghana football. I am not much of a talking person but the decision they took is so bad that I have to come out,” he told Kumasi-based Kessben FM.

“This is the seventh-time I am officiating an All Stars game so why would I cheat the team of the GFA President Kwasi Nyantakyi?

“I urge the match be shown on TV for everyone to come to a conclusion that indeed it was a penalty.

“From what I saw it was a clear penalty. In cases like these you need technical men to take decisions, people with technical eyes because with them I am certain they wouldn’t have come to such a conclusion.

“It was the same way I was suspended for three weeks for not awarding a penalty to Hearts of Oak against Tema Youth so I don’t know what the committee wants to achieve.

“I have taken a decision not to officiate against, no one can come and ask me anything.”
