Amoah aids NAC Breda climb into top six

Ghana striker Matthew Amoah's first-half header helped NAC Breda to envelope NEC Nijmegen's visit with a 2-0 defeat to move into the top six in the Eredivisie on Saturday.

The hosts had the best of the few early chances when Kees Luijckx was left unmarked from a corner, but the midfielder's weak header was straight at goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.

The home side took the lead after 30 minutes when Cillessen failed to collect a cross, leaving Amoah the simplest of headers from just six yards out to put his side ahead.

NEC came out with renewed purpose after the interval and could have equalised almost immediately after the restart when John Goosens shot from the corner of the box with Jelle ten Rouwelaar doing well to parry the ball away.

Late in the second half, Ali Boussaboun's inch-perfect ball from the right found Idabdelhay on the edge of the area.

The substitute cut back inside a defender before calmly side footing the ball home from 12 yards.
