Ghana striker Mathew Amoah was missing in Heerenveen’s 2-0 defeat to Molde in the Uefa Europa League on Thursday.

The 31-year-old has been suffering from a hamstring injury and failed to make a recovery in time to help the Dutch club in the game played at the Aker Stadion in Molde.

Amoah returned to Holland this summer where his career has thrived most following a failed stint in Turkey with Mersin Idmanyurdu last term.

He is however yet to make his debut following a string of niggle injuries.

The former NAC Beda hitman’s injury now leaves coach Marco Van Basten with only one out-and-out striker with Hakim Ziyech and Jukka Raitala also out through injury.

It is readily unclear whether Amoah will be fit to play in the second leg of the ultimate qualifier in a fortnight.
