Andre Ayew says he is taking vital lessons from Asamoah Gyan as he prepares himself to be the next captain of the Black Stars.

The 25-year-old who is currently the deputy captain is in line to take up the mantle once Asamoah Gyan leaves the scene.

Gyan was passed the armband after it became evident that John Mensah could no longer continue in that capacity after remaining injured and then clubless over a period of time.

Andre Ayew who joined English club Swansea some few weeks ago is now not keeping any secrets of his desire to be captain of the Black Stars he understudies Gyan for the role.

“I am learning from him. Like Baby [Asamoah Gyan] always says one day he will leave the captaincy to you,” Ayew said.

“I will keep looking up to him because one day I will there.”

The former Olympique Marseille man will become the second member of his family to captain the Black Stars following the exploits of his father Abedi Pele from the early to the late 90’s.

Ayew captained Ghana’s U20 team to become the first African side to win the FIFA World Cup at that level in 2009 in Egypt.

Most of the regular players in the current Black Stars team are products of that iconic team of which Ayew was the captain.
