Midfielder Andre Ayew is delighted Ghana head Group E of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the halfway stage.

The Black Stars were unimpressive in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Guinea in Casablanca which ensured they stayed on top of the pool with a one-point advantage.

Ghana have five points but closely chased by Guinea and Uganda who are on four apiece.

Togo revived their qualification bid with victory against the Cranes but remain at the foot of the table with three points.

“We are on top of Group E with five points. That is the most important thing for us. We will take the matches one by one,” Ayew said in a post-match interview.

“Guinea are behind us with four points followed by Uganda with the same points tally while Togo are with three. So it is a balanced group but we are the leaders.

The Olympique Marseille wants the Black Stars to beat Guinea in the return leg on Wednesday to tighten their grip at the summit.

“What is important to us now is to win our next game at home and strengthen our chances of reaching the tournament in Morocco,” he added.
