Andre Ayew, Gomis named the English Premier League's most accurate strike force
Andre AYew and Gomis have scored seven goals together so far this season

Swansea City have come under fire for misfiring in front of goal – yet nobody in the Premier League has been more accurate when it comes to shooting than Garry Monk's men.

Swans boss Monk has been forced to defend his side's attacking potency after a run of three games without a goal.

And they head to Southampton on Saturday looking to avoid a third Premier League blank – something not suffered under Monk's charge and not since the spring of 2013.

Yet Monk's claim that it is a matter of time before his side start finding the net again has been backed up by the fact Swansea currently boast the best shot accuracy in the Premier League.

Only Manchester City (44) and Arsenal (41) have registered more shots on target than Swansea's 35 from six Premier League outings.

That tally has come from a total of 85 shots overall, giving them a shot accuracy percentage of 41.2% - the highest in the top-flight ahead of Crystal Palace on 38.4% and early leaders City on 36.7%.

It suggests Swansea's luck in front of goal is about to turn with Monk's maintenance his side are going well put into perspective with three of the bottom four in the table also managing the lowest shots on target in the league: Newcastle with 15, Sunderland on 16 and Aston Villa on 19.

Bafetimbi Gomis – who has four of Swansea's seven Premier League goals – is a major factor in the impressive shooting statistics, his 11 shots on target the most in the league and an example of his reputation as a lethal finisher.

Andre Ayew, who has collected Swansea's other three goals, has hit the target seven times from 14 attempts – the tenth best in the division.

Where Swansea are currently letting themselves down is their conversion rate with their 35 efforts between the sticks only producing those seven goals. The conversion rate of 8.2% is only 11th best in the top division, though is ahead of champions Chelsea on 8.1%.

Monk will hope that Swansea can better that average by getting back among the goals against the Saints having insisted luck has gone against them at times when it comes to putting the ball into the net.

And with no side matching Swansea's four shots that have hit the woodwork, the Swans boss may have a point.
