Andre Ayew rounded on the Marseille fans who turned against Jeremy Morel during their 1-0 win at home to Lorient last Saturday.

The French international, who recently returned from injury, was jeered off at the Stade Vélodrome after being replaced in the second half.

The Ghanaian supremo felt Morel deserved better treatment and defended him from the fans’ abuse.

“I would spend a little time with Jeremy Morel and tell him something because he returned from injury and he made two good games,” Ayew is quoted by Le10 Sports.

“After getting whistled by his own fans, it hurts not only for himself but for the whole group because we are very united.

“We were in a difficult period during the game.

"We needed the fans during this period, it was 10 to 15 minutes to full time before we scored.

If a player from injury is being whistled at, it makes things complicated.”
