Andre Ayew never wanted to quit Marseille

Posted On Monday, 3rd September 2012

Andre Ayew has pledged his future with Marseille

Ghana star Andre Ayew insists he is happy at Olympique Marseille and he never wanted to quit the Stade Velodrome.

The 22-year-old was linked with moves to German giants Bayern Munich as well as English PremierLegaue giants Liverpool and Arsenal during the transfer window.

But the former Ghana U20 captain failed to make a move and has promised Marseille fans he will remain with the club.

“I never said I wanted to go, despite what was written,” Ayew told Marseille’s official website.

“The leaders, the president, Jose Anigo knows that I am here and that I want to stay.
“If the leaders had wanted me to leave because of the financial situation at the club, that is something else.
“It would have got to me because I want to continue with Marseille and I have not thought of leaving. Now, we’ll try to stay together and to have a good year.”
Ayew’s contract with Marseille runs until 2015.
His younger brother Jordan has joined Nice also in the French Ligue 1 on a season-long loan.
