Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew insists he will have no problem wearing the number 10 jersey of the Black Stars but has played down its significance.
The shirt has become available following the decision of Kwadwo Asamoah to relinquish it due to personal reasons and revert to the no.20 jersey.
Many Ghanaians are backing the son of legendary Abedi Pele to take up the number and join a long list of great players to have spotted the shirt.
But the Olympique Marseille ace does not want to be drawn on that and remains focused on shinning for the national team.
"I wear number 20 at Marseille and have always worn the number 13 jersey for the Black Stars so wearing no.10 for me is not a big deal," the 22-year-old told GHANAsoccernet.com
"I really don't think the jersey number is that important. For me, improving my performance is what matters and not the jersey you wear.''
The no.10 jersey is respected worldwide and his dad Abedi Pele excelled in that jersey during his stints as captain of the Black Stars.
Stephen Appiah also distinguished himself until a career-threatening injury resulted in his retirement from international football.
