Andre Ayew feels sad with Baup's departure

Marseille ace Andre Ayew says he feels saddened by the departure of manager Elie Baup and dismiss claims he lost control in the dressing room.

Baup was sacked last December after a string of poor results in the French top-flight and replaced by sporting director Jose Anigo.

The Ghanaian international said on French television on Tuesday night that he regretted the departure of his former boss.

He downplayed claims Baup was too nice with the players which affected his control of the dressing room.

" Elie Baup too nice with the players? This is a rumor that is false. We forget that we were second with him after a complicated season,” Ayew said

“The Champions League has made us more harm than good this year. Other clubs as Monaco or Paris would have struggled too.

At the level of the game, we produced a lot but we lacked experience. Regarding the dressing room, it was always welded.

“The departure of the coach, it is a decision of the President, not ours.”

Marseille are 19 points behind leaders and champions Paris St-Germain.
