Swansea City are set to beat West Ham to the signature of of highly-rated forward Andre Ayew.

The Marseille star had been poised to join the Upton Park club on a free transfer as he is out of contract at the end of the season.

However, after further talks on Monday night, Swansea have now emerged as favourites to sign the 25-year-old Ghana international.

The main attraction is that Ayew represents a low risk purchase given his Bosnan status.

Yet this is a player who, despite his relatively young age, has plenty of experience playing in a leading European league and the Champions League, not to mention 62 senior caps for his country.

Ayew has clearly identified the present time to be a crucial juncture in his career and wants a new challenge for what should be his prime.

Last season, Ayew scored  10 goals in 29 games for Marseille. He also netted three times in six appearances at the Africa Cup of Nations.
