Cup-tied Andre Ayew to miss Swansea City FA Cup match against Sheffield Wednesday

Ghana attacker Andre Ayew has been ruled out of Swansea City FA Cup quarter final clash against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The 28-year-old re-signed for the Welsh-based side from West Ham United during the January transfer window in a record deal of £18 million, which could rise to £20 million.

However, the deputy Ghana captain will be eligible to play a part in the Swans FA Cup quarter final tie against second-tier side Sheffield Wednesday because he is cup-tied after making an appearance in the competition with West Ham United prior to his switch.

Ayew made his debut for Carlos Carvahal's men last weekend as substitute as they inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Burnley at the Liberty Stadium.

Meanwhile, his brother Jordan Ayew, who has been on fire since the turn of the year is expected to lead the line for the side in the game.
