Former National Security adviser Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah has asked striking Ghanaian doctors to follow in the footsteps of Asamoah and apply for jobs in China if they wanted money.
The head of Ghana’s human security is livid with the indefinite strike action embarked on by the Ghana Medical Association in protest for their codified conditions of service.
Doctors in the public sector have laid down their tools, vowing to resign en masse on Friday if government fails to document their conditions of service.
But controversial and tough-talking former National security chief Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah has lashed out at the striking doctors, urging them to follow in the footsteps of Black Stars captain Asamopah Gyan, who plays for Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG in search of huge booty.
“These professions are a calling, when I joined the army to die to save Ghana it wasn’t because of the money...so when you want to be a doctor you must survive but money shouldn’t be sole [reason] of you being a doctor otherwise you go and play football, you go to China and join Asamoah Gyan and make money,†the Accra-based Starr FM.
The Ghana Medical Association will hold a General Assembly meeting on Friday to decide on whether to resign en masse or not.
