Annan's injury not serious as feared

Posted On Friday, 11th January 2013

Annan is likely to return to training on Saturday

Black Stars midfielder Anthony Annan is likely to return to training on Saturday after suffering an injury in Ghana’s international friendly on Thursday.

The 26-year-old Osasuna midfielder limped off just 27 minutes into Ghana’s 3-0 victory over Egypt in Abu Dhabi.

There were concerns he could spend a lengthy time on the sidelines but coach James Kwesi Appiah says Annan could return to training on Saturday.

“The only player who suffered an injury was Annan but the doctors have confirmed it is not that serious. He just didn’t land well. He will be able to train either tomorrow or Saturday,” he said in the post match interview.

Annan was handed the armband with substantive captain Asamoah Gyan starting from the bench.

Huuuuuge relief! Of course, one can’t understand the nature of his injury, based on the quote “he just didn’t land well”. Care for any further information… on medical terms please? :) Otherwise, i would assume he just needs a simple polish on his loose brakes, so that next time he lands more safely…
