Ghanaian giants Kumasi Asante Kotoko have finally confirmed their friendly against Greek top-flight side Veria FC in Kumasi next month, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The match will be played on 3 January.

The game is a massive coup for the Porcupine Warriors who will now count themselves as the only side in the Ghanaian top-flight to have attracted a club from Europe to play in Ghana.

The match was originally supposed to be the 80th anniversary friendly for the Porcupines.

But they have shifted it to the game to usher in the New Year and introduce their new players to their teeming supporters in the Garden City ahead of the start of the new season.

It is very rare to have European teams visiting Ghana to play matches and Kotoko have now set the tone with the MTN Challenge Cup match.

Organizers of the match, Pacific Football Ghana Limited, claim the Ghana Football Association has now sanctioned the match.

The two teams were suppose to meet on November 15 at the Baba Yara Stadium but the World Cup qualifier between Ghana and Comoros led to its cancellation.
