Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan came off the Schalke 04 bench to make his debut in the German Bundesliga this season in their 3-1 home triumph over Eintracht Braunschweig on Saturday evening.

The 26-year-old replaced Julian Draxler ten minutes from time as the Royal Blues cruised to a comfortable 3-1 win over bottom-placed Eintracht Braunschweig at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen.

Annan enjoyed his first playing minutes of the season during the mid-week when he came off the bench at the Santiago Bernabao in their Schalke's 3-1 defeat against Real Madrid in the Uefa Champions League.

For the former Hearts of Oak midfielder, the string of second-half cameos come good as Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah gets prepared to name his provisional 30-man squad for the 2014 World Cup.

Annan has been away from international for close to two years with injuries and inconsistencies at club level.

But he could return to international duty if Kwesi Appiah finds his recent form good enough and particularly if he does not receive good news on Russia-based midfielder Rabiu Mohammed who has been out for a couple of months with injury.

Annan's international team-mate Kevin-Prince Boateng lasted the entire duration of the game for Schalke who have moved to third on the Bundesliga section with their win on Saturday.
