Appiah meets Fener in court

Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has been meeting his former club Fenerbahce in a Swiss sports court over the circumstances leading to his exit from the Turkish side.

Both sides are seeking compensation over the Appiah's decision to terminate his contract with the club after a dispute over a botched knee surgery.

The two parties are reported to be stuck into the detailed claims and counter claims of how the relationship broke down.

Fifa had declared the Ghana captain a free agent before he joined Bologna late last year but the governing body asked Appiah to compensate the club.

Fenerbahce constested the amount to be paid them while Appiah's lawyers argued that he rather should be compensated.

This resulted in the decision being referred to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) which is expected to give a final ruling on the matter.

The hearing is Siwtzerland will end on Thursday but it is not known when the final decision will be made public.

Bologna gave the Ghana captain the permission to stay away for two days for the hearing in sport's highest court.

Appiah quit Fenerbahce over two years ago over a botched knee operation which led to a contractual dispute.

He has already played for Serie A sides Udinese, Parma, Brescia and Juventus before spending three seasons at Fenerbahce.
