Ex-Kotoko coach Telat Uzum wants the Ghana FA to appoint a German as a technical adviser of the Black Stars instead of a Serbian following mounting reports that the association plans to engage Ljubinko Drulovic in that capacity.
According to the Turkish trainer, an experienced and tactical German coach is what the Africans need to turn their fortunes around.
The Black Stars endured a disastrous campaign at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil which has heightened debate about Kwesi Appiah ability to lead the side to success.
Media reports have emerged that the Ghana FA has approached the current coach of the Serbian team Ljubinko Drulovic to assume the role of a technical director.
The potential appointment of the 45-year-old could be deemed as subtle way to tell Appiah he lacks the managerial and tactical acumen to manage the high-profile team.
Former Kotoko coach Telat Uzum has urged the Ghana FA to appoint a German due to their immense knowledge in the game.
ââ¬ÅI think the FA should appoint a German instead of a Serbian,â⬠he said.
ââ¬ÅSerbia is a good football nation but they come nowhere close to Germans in terms of coaching.
ââ¬ÅI donââ¬â¢t understand why they always go for Serbian coaches. The German coaches are better equipped and understand the modern trends of the game.
ââ¬ÅThey are good planners and bring a lot on the table if the FA appoints a good German coach. They are better managers and can really help the Black Stars achieve their ultimate aim."
Appiah who took over the Black Stars reigns in 2012 fromà Goran Stevanovicaccording to sources, will reject this condition and step down as coach of the side.
Reports of the appointment of a technical director became prominent in the lead up to Ghanaââ¬â¢s abortive campaign at the 2014 World Cup.
This follows statement made by former Ghana FA boss MND Jawula and the then aid to the former Minister of Sports Yaw Ampofo Ankrah that Appiah was incapable of managing the team on his own.
German Klaus Topmoller and Serbianà Milovan Rajevacà were linked to the role but the Ghana FA insisted it had no plans whatsoever to make such an appointment.
The association however stressed they would consider making such an appointment only at the request of Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah.
