Ghana striker Augustine Arhinful says he did not advocate for sex for the Black Stars at the 2014 World Cup insisting such debates are distracting the focus of the team for the tournament in Brazil.
The ex-Dortmund attacker was quoted by Radioxyxonline to have advocated for the Black Stars to take their wives along to Brazil.
This discussion has been sparked by the decision of Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi to give permission to his players to send their wives and not girlfriends to the tournament.
Ahinful was reported by Radioxyxonline to have told Ultimate Radio  that sex is actually not a bad thing for athletes which sparked reports that he has approved sex for the Black Stars at the World Cup.
The ex-international striker insists he did not advocate for sex for the Black Stars saying the debate over the spouses of the players is even disrupting the concentration of the team.
"I did not say the Black Stars should go to the World Cup and have sex. I only cited an example of teams doing well with their families around. That doesn't mean they are having sex," Arhinful told Ghana's leading football news website, GHANAsoccernet.com.
"The fact that a player has his family around doesn't mean they are having sex.
"Please, while our opponents are concentrating and preparing for the World Cup we have focused our attention on such debates. Please let the Black Stars concentrate and focus on the task ahead."
England coach Roy Hodgson pulled the plug on the WAGS yesterday when he made a u-turn insisting players will not be allowed to take their wives or girlfriends to the World Cup.
