It’s the reunion Arsenal fans have all been waiting for Emmanuel Frimpong and Nicklas Bendtner together at last.

Two of the cultest of Emirates cult heroes were brought back together recently, as Frimpong posted a picture of himself posing with Bendtner, who looks even more confused than he does when the ball breaks to him in the penalty area.

The duo were together at Arsenal until 2014, though they rarely made it on to the pitch together. That may be something of a blessed relief to certain supporters, who were never overly impressed with either player.

But absence certainly might make the heart grow fonder for some Arsenal supporters, and both maintain a fan favourite status that was proven when Bendtner made his return to north London in August. His substitute appearance for Wolfsburg in the Emirates Cup gained perhaps the biggest cheer of the day – he did not manage to score. And that’s a feeling Arsenal fans know well.

The comments show the love for two players who are “basically the Arsenal greats; narrowly ahead of Thierry and Dennis”. As aristaki_boqui puts it so succinctly: “So much dench”.

Frimpong currently turns out for FC Ufa in Russia whilst ‘Lord’ Bendtner is still a part of the squad for Bundesliga runners-up Wolfsburg, where he has three goals in four games so far this season. Could he, once more, be the striker Wenger has been searching for?
