Arsenal eliminated from FA Cup by second-tier side Rainbow FC

Ghanaian Premier League side Berekum Arsenal crashed out of the MTN FA Cup after falling 1-0 to Division One side Rainbow FC on Saturday.

The Gunners were unable to overcome a defiant and resilient opposition in Kumasi.

Young defender Richard Owusu poked home a cross from a team-mate with a sensational finishing in the first-half to send the struggling top flight side packing out of the competition.

Rainbow FC dominated from start to finish and should have increased the margin but failed to convert three golden chances.

"We totally outplayed them throughout the regulation minutes and this makes me very happy. It means we can be really good in the top flight when we get the ticket next season," President Nana Acheampong told Ghanasoccernet.com.

Former Ghana U17 attacker Bright Acheampong was voted the most valuable player of the game.

The last season quarter-finalists will now turn their attention fully to Premier League survival after being jettisoned unceremoniously from the competition by Rainbow.
