Ghana international defender Jeff Schlupp is set to commit his future to Leicester City by signing a new four-year contract today despite interest from rivals Arsenal.

The 22-year-old has been rewarded by City for his performances last season when he established himself in the side and as a Premier League player.

City are understood to have offered the Ghana international a generous deal to ward off interest from a host of clubs and Schlupp is close to signing the contract.

Manchester United, Arsenal, Sunderland, Aston Villa and West Brom were all said to have expressed interest in Schlupp, but the academy graduate is said to have preferred staying at City.

The former Manchester United trialist has attracted key interest from the Gunners and Aston Villa.

Both clubs were thought to be lining up £5million bids, with the winger's future at the King Power Stadium thought to be uncertain.

Manchester United - who took Schlupp on trial in 2013 - are also understood to have enquired about the 22-year-old's situation.

However, insiders claim Schlupp will sign a four-year deal today.

Integral to the negotiations has been director of football and academy director Jon Rudkin, who has fostered a close relationship with Schluppas he came through the ranks at City.

Schlupp only signed a new three-year contract last summer, along with fellow academy graduate and friend Liam Moore.

Schlupp made 30 starts in the Premier League last season, scoring four times, as he was used as a left-back, left-sided midfield player and a wing-back.

Schlupp had a throughly impressive season last term, being named as Leicester's Young and Players' Player of the Year.

The Ghana international, who has seven caps for his country to date, scored three times in 31 league appearances last season.

His pace, power and athleticism was seen as a valuable asset by manager Nigel Pearson.
