Schlupp extended his contract with Leicester on Monday

English side Arsenal have turned their attention to Sporting Lisbon's holding midfielder William Carvalho after Ghana star Jeff Schlupp decided not to sign for the Gunners.

Arsenal target Schlupp has committed his future to Leicester by signing a new deal on Monday ruling out a move to the London side.

And, manager Arsene Wenger has now turned his attention to the Portugal youth international midfielder William Carvalho.

According to the London Evening Standard, Portugal Under-21 star Carvalho is now top of his wanted list.

The youngster's fine form for club and country has seen interest mount in his services.

Manchester United and Chelsea are also being linked with moves for the £20m-rated player but it is understood that Arsenal are most likely to land him.

The 22-year-old Ghana international, who had been linked with to the Gunners and Aston Villa, has penned a new contract, keeping with the Foxes until the summer of 2019.

A statement issued via the club's official website, said: "Jeffrey Schlupp has committed his future to Leicester City by signing a new contract to keep him at King Power Stadium until June 2019.

"The 22-year-old Ghana international enjoyed an outstanding debut season in the Barclays Premier League, which culminated in a double triumph at the club's end of season awards, where he won the Players' Player and Young Player of the Year titles."
