Ghana winger Ishmael Yartey displayed glimpses of his brilliance as he set up Ebenezer Assifuah to score the match-winner for FC Sion in their narrow 1-0 win over Russian side FK UFA on Friday evening.

The 24-year-old, who is cast in the mould of Dutch talisman Arjan Robben, was a perpetual tormentor for the Russian second-tier as he lasted the entire duration of the game.

His explosive ability from either flanks created more problems for the opposition and came close to scoring on three occasions but he was unlucky as his efforts missed the target.

However, the introduction of his Ghanaian compatriot Assifuah provided the perfect combination and yielded the needed match winner.

Yartey broke free on the right and exploited two defenders before laying a through-pass for the on-rushing Assifuah who timed himself well to clinically angle home a neat finish before 1861 spectators in Cyprus.

After completing his first 90 minutes since mid-December, the former Ghana U17 star looks set to inspire Sion in the Swiss Super League when it resumes next weekend.
