The Allianz Arena rose to its collective feet on 80 minutes in the 3-0 victory over Augsburg as Arturo Vidal was replaced by Corentin Tolisso. It was reward for an outstanding performance by the Chilean, who scored and assisted one as the champions opened up a six-point lead at the top of the table, and was the perfect response to the challenge made by his coach Jupp Heynckes.

The Bayern boss had recently spoken with the midfielder about his efforts so far this season. "I know what he’s capable of, and I wasn’t pleased with the way he’d been playing at the time I arrived, and I made that absolutely clear to him," the treble-winning boss declared in his post-match interview.

Heynckes continued by revealing the ultimatum he had put to Vidal, who he has known since their time together at Bayer Leverkusen, "He’s worked really hard the last two weeks, trained well and you could see that he enjoyed himself out there again. I’d told him if he doesn’t get back to form then there are other players who can play ahead of him."
