Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan had an extensive telephone conversation with Ivorian star Didier Drogba ahead of his mega move to Chinese club Shanghai SIPG, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.

The Black Stars captain is getting set for a €20m move to the ambitious Chinese club coached by former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Gyan called up Didier Drogba to seek advice and insights into Chinese football before heading out to Shanghai.

Drogba had a brief spell in China where he played for Shanghai Shenhua who are also interested in signing the Ghanaian.

The Al Ain ace wants to gather as much information as possible about his prospective next employers before sealing the move.

Gyan moved to the UAE in a sensational move from Sunderland in 2011 and has since been an immense success in the gulf.

His move to Shanghai SIPG is expected to take his his already staggering weekly earnings  in excess of $300,000.
