Asamoah Gyan has dedicated his two goals for Al Ain against Al –Shabab on Thursday to the memory of his late mother, Mrs Cecilia Gyan.

Mrs Gyan died through a motor accident in Accra on Tuesday and despite the loss, the Ghana captain turned out for his club side and scored twice as they triumphed over Al-Shabab Â 3-2.

The 26-year-old says the only way he can show appreciation to his late mother is to dedicate the two goals to the woman who meant everything to him.

“It’s painful loss but God knows best. I dedicate the two goals I scored to my late mother,” Gyan said

“She meant everything to me and she cannot be replaced. Many people have shown me love and I appreciate it very much.

“The flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo Addo called me and I really appreciate it.

“I can understand that President John Mahama is busy with lots of work, but I am expecting his call.

“I am mentally strong and so I believe I will pull through. I want to thank all Ghanaians for the massive show of love and support during these difficult times.

Gyan mother would have turned 61 today.

He has been excused from Tuesday's international friendly against Cape Verde in Lisbon, Portugal.
