Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan is bitterly disappointed in CAF for not handing out a sterner punishment to Guinea goalkeeper Naby Yattara for his savage tackle on him at the 2015 AFCON.

The 29-year-old was a victim of a frustrated tackle as the Black Stars crashed the Syli National 3-0 in the quarter final clash of the tournament staged in Equatorial Guinea.

Yattara was rightly sent off and eventually got the mandatory one game ban.

But Gyan feels the Arles Avignon goalkeeper has been left off the hook easily for the career-threating tackle on him.

“I am very very disappointed!” Gyan said over what he feels was a highly lenient punishment.

“It was deliberate and it means anyone cone just come to the African Cup and destroy someone’s career and then go free.

“Because the way the guy hit me, if it was like a meter down there, that would have been the end [of his career].”

Ghana coach Avram Grant called for a one-year ban on Yattara to serve as a serious deterrent as his lead striker missed the ensuing semi final win over hosts Equatorial Guinea.

Gyan also clearly struggled in the final against Cote d’Ivoire which Ghana lost on penalty shootout.
