Asamoah Gyan has officially introduced his foundation at a media launch on Monday.

The event which took place at the plush Alisa Hotel had Minister of Employment E.T Mensah as its chair, some Black Stars players, musicians and fans in attendance.

The foundation dubbed “Asamoah Gyan Foundation” is aimed at mainly catering for educating the girl child, improving health and water facilities in deprived areas and a long-term plan of establishing an academy.

“One could see especially in our villages a ten-year girl walking about two miles to fetch water and walk all the way back home and I think this is not proper,” The Sunderland striker told the gathering.

“When I was a kid anytime the news was showed I just sit in front of the television and I could see people in these deprives communities and this made me sad.

“I have been through a lot of challenges and thankfully now God has blessed me and therefore I think its about time to give back to my community.”

E.T Mensah in his parting comments assured of government's support of the foundation.

"I would like to assure Gyan and everyone involved with this project that any support needed from our side to make this successful would be granted," he said.

"Therefore any equipment brought in from overseas would be tax exempt."

The grand launch of the foundation is expected to take place in January before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations at a yet to be determined venue.
