Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan leads the goalscorer's chart in the UAE

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has been quick to shift the glory after winning the UAE Pro-League with Al Ain and surpassing his debut goal tally.

The Black Stars captain scored a hat-trick on Thursday to hand Al Ain their second successive Pro-League title with a 3-0 win over Dubai.

The hat-trick sees Gyan pull away to 28 goals in the race for the UAE goal king award.

He now leads Brazilian Grafite by a four goal margin and remains on track to clinching a second successive top scorer’s award in the UAE top flight.

The former Sunderland hitman has thanked his club and the Al Ain team for their support while reveling in his personal glory.

“I am happy for our (Al Ain) Premier League feat and also personally happy that I broke my own record of the number goals scored,” he told Angel FM.

“So far I have scored 28 goals even though the league is not yet over.

“I want to thank the club and the team for all the support they have given me.

“The way the team also played helped me a lot and I thank them for that.”

Asamoah Gyan has made his impact extremely felt since joining Al Ain in 2011 initially on a season’s-long loan deal before making his UAE stay official by signing a five-year contract when his loan deal expired in 2012.
