Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan believes he has nothing more to prove in his professional career having achieved several laurels at his young age.

The Al Ain ace tuned 29 on Saturday boasting several accolades – most amongst them being the all-time leading scorer for Ghana with 45 goals.

Gyan also hold the record of the most goals scored by an African in the history of the World Cup – overtaking Cameroon great Roger Milla by scoring two goals at this year’s finals staged in Brazil.

Aside winning several domestic and international awards including being named the 2010 BBC African Footballer of the Year, his exploits on the field of play for both club and country has been simply magnificent.

He has emerged top goal scorer ever since moving to the UAE – three seasons in a row and has just also won the award as the Best Foreign player in Asia having scored more goals than anyone else in the just ended AFC Champions League.

With all these accolades, the former Sunderland hitman says he will retire a happy man despite the deficit of a winners medal with the Black Stars.

“I am a happy man,” he said.

“At my age – 29- I think I have achieved a lot and won many awards.

“It was earned through hard work and that makes me a very happy man.

“I don’t have anything more to prove. I have played football at all levels and still playing competitively at the top level.”

Gyan played for Liberty Professionals in the Ghana Premier League before his first move to Europe where he joined Udinese in 2003.

He has played for clubs including Modena, Stade Rennes and Sunderland.
