Asamoah Gyan to get new coach at Al Ain with Cosmin Olariou's departure
Cosmin Olariou has left Al Ain

Coach Cosmin Olariou has shockingly left Al Ain – where Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan is a legend to join rivals Al Ahli, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The Romanian who had 12 months to run on his deal at Al Ain decided to walk towards a more lucrative offer of €4m a year being offered by the Red Knights.

Olarious has signed a three-year contract with Al Ahli and will be introduced to his new player on July 14 when the club begins its pre-season activities.

The former Steaua Bucharest coach replaces Spanish coach Qique Sanchez Flores who ended his 19-months contract tenure with the Dubai club.

The former Valencia, Benfica and Atletico Madrid coach is being linked with a cross-town move to replace the departed Olariou at Al Ain.

The shock changes in the two UAE giants is even more surprising with a week to the start of their pre-season schedule.

Olariou was expected to remain with the Boss where he has won two back-to-back titles with the side inspired by Asamoah Gyan who has also won back-to-back goal king awards and breaking the goals per season record in the UAE Pro-League.

Al Ain have also made several signings this term in their bid to improve their form in the Asian Champions League where they fell way short last season.

Olariou is well known in Ghana for his outburst on the Ghana FA for allowing Asamoah Gyan play in the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan despite nursing a minor injury.

Gyan ended that game which the Black Stars won 4-0 with a thigh injury which kept him out of action for weeks and threatened Al Ain's charge to a second successive Premier League success.
