Asamoah Gyan wants to stay- Al Ain CEO

Newly-crowned UAE champions Al Ain claim Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan wants to remain with the club on a permanent basis.

The 26-year-old has been influential for the side since joining them on loan from English side Sunderland last September.

Gyan's 17 goals in 15 matches helped Al Ain to clinch a tenth Etisalat Pro League title last Friday with three matches to spare.

Reports say Al Ain must cough up €3.5 million to buy former Rennes striker.

"I’m very confident that he will be staying," Al Ain chief executive Carlo Nohra told Sport360°.

"He has indicated on a number of occasions that he would like to remain at the club.

"There is a loan agreement that we need to work out with Sunderland, but what is really important is that the player wants to be here and we would like to keep him. So now it's about working out the logistics of a transfer.

"That doesn’t mean it’s going to happen, but the seeds are there for us to ensure that this becomes a long-term deal."
