Asante Kotoko appeal Ghana FA fine

Asante Kotoko appealed the hefty fine by disciplinary committee of the Ghana Football Association for boycotting a medal presentation in a Cup match last month.

The Ghana FA charged them for misconduct and ordered them to pay a cumulative 36,500 Ghana cedi fine in the verdict released on Wednesday.

The club's Serbian trainer Bogdan Korak was also hit with a three-match ban on the touchlines next season.

"Kotoko officials have met and we're filing an appeal on Thursday because we think the punishment is too heavy and we are shocked at it," an official Nana Kwame Dankwah said.

"We agree we erred and we deserve some bit of punishment but at a time that most clubs are struggling to financially, we think they must come again and we hope our plea will yield positive result at the Appeals committee."

Kotoko resisted sanctions imposed on them by the Ghana League Clubs Association over the matter after they ate their humble pie.
