Asante Kotoko have made an official bid to sign Hearts of Oak striker Mahatma Otoo, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

The official notification follows a staggering declaration by the Executive Chairman Dr. KK Sarpong of the Kumasi-based club’s intent to sign the 20-year-old which was last week exclusively revealed by GHANAsoccernet.com.

The shocking revelation by Dr. Sarpong raised several doubts of Kotoko's resolve to actually walk the talk but this assertion has been well put to bed after the Premier League champions made their interest official on Thursday.

"We have sent an e-mail of our bid to Hearts of Oak and we are expecting a response to that also through official channels," Kotoko's Administrative Manager Ben Nti told GHANAsoccernet.com.

Hearts have meanwhile declared they are not prepared to sell Otoo unless the leading striker decides to leave which by the look of things appear highly unlikely.

Hearts' Chief Executive Fred Crentsil will nevertheless hold a meeting with the 2011 All Africa Games Top Scorer and gold medalist before responding accordingly to Kotoko's proposal.

Kotoko are looking to assemble a solid side for their Premier League title defence and also to make a meaningful impact on their return to continental competition in the CAF Champions League.

The Porcupine Warriors are already favourites to sign exciting forward Uriah Asante whose loan spell with the Phobians expired at the end of the last campaign.
