Asante Kotoko board member Dr Kwaku Frimpong has revealed he flew in Danish coach Thomas Muller Nielsen to Kumasi with hopes of replacing him with head coach David Duncan at the club.

The Danish tactician was at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi to watch Kotoko slip to defeat against AshantiGold in the Otumfour amidst rumours of his impending appointment as technical director for the club.

Kotoko officials sharply denied the news broken by Ghana's leading football news portal GHANAsoccernet.com

However Dr Frimpong has confirmed in an interview with an Accra-based radio station Kasapa FM he brought in the former Hearts of Oak target as replacement for David Duncan who he deems unfit for the Kotoko role.

"Because we were being ridiculed by the public concerning Kotoko’s performance, I personally brought in a new a coach to replace Duncan of which I was ready to pay for his salaries. We want the best so we have to go in for first class coach, Duncan cannot help the situation," he told Accra based Kasapa FM.

Kotoko who had won the Ghana Premier League titles in the last three seasons finished in sixth place while regional rivals AshantiGold claimed the league title, beating Aduana Stars and Berekum Chelsea to it while 20-time winners Hearts of Oak finished 4th.
