Asante Kotoko coach David Duncan Praises Players 'CHARACTER' for Winning FirsTrust G6 Tournament

Published on: 10 January 2016

Head coach of Asante Kotoko David Duncan has praised his second string side for emerging winners of the maiden FirsTrust G6 competition this afternoon.

A 46th minute penalty converted by Burkinabe young attacker Halipha Sedogo was enough to crown Kotoko champions of maiden FirsTrust G6 competition at the expense of Aduana Stars.

However, it could have been a different outcome had Godfred Saka converted an earlier penalty awarded Aduana Stars.

Asante Kotoko after their first game which they won impressively against Berekum Chelsea split their team into; with the Team A travelling to Libya to honour a friendly while the B stayed for the G6 Tourney.

Fortunately for them, the decision taken did not yield a negative result as the second team under the guidance of assistant coach Michael Osei drew 1-1 with AshantiGold before seeing off Aduana in the final to claim a third pre-season trophy.

And the Porcupines manager who is with the first team took to Twitter to laud the performance exhibited by his relatively new and inexperienced second side in spite of his absence.

David Duncan wrote: "#Congratsteamkotoko. A TEAM of lads with the mantra, IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING. Let's stay focused. Cheers!.. A dismembered team could have broken the spirit of many a team. CHARACTER epitomized in Kotoko lads. We are still focused."

A lot will be expected from Duncan and his charges when the season finally commence, having enjoyed a purple patch in pre-season.

The first string side will come up against Libyan giants Al Ittihad in an international friendly on Tuesday.
