Asante Kotoko midfielder Jordan Opoku has been made captain of Ghana’s CHAN team ahead of their opening group game against Congo on Monday.
The 26-year-old was presented at the pre-match press conference alongside coach Maxwell Konadu as the skipper of the home-based Black Stars team.
Opoku will thus be spotting the captain’s armband when the Black Stars file out to face their Congolese opponents at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Monday.
The Black Stars are look to bounce back strongly at the CHAN tournament following their woeful performance in the last edition in Sudan.
Ghana has taken part in all three editions of the CHAN since its inception in 2009.
