Asante Kotoko striker Obed Owusu bemoans Amed Toure's departure

Asante Kotoko forward Obed Owusu has bemoaned the departure of Amed Toure ahead of the start of the Ghana Premier League.

According to the former Berekum Chelsea hit-man, the absence of the Burkinabe import will be a major blow to the team but insisted that the current players will step into his shoes to deliver the needed results for the club.

The 28-year old controversial striker who scored 15 goals in all competition last season for Asante Kotoko was axed from the club for going AWOL.

And Owusu in an interview with Ghanasoccernet.com believes that the absence of his former striking partner will be a big blow to the club ahead of the upcoming season.

“It is true that the absence of Amed Toure will affect the team looking at his performance last season. He was superb but for now he is no more with the team and the current players will have the task to carry the flag of Kotoko high.”

“The only thing we can do is to give out our best to win laurels for the club because players come and go but Kotoko still will be Kotoko,” Owusu told Ghanasoccernet.com.

Toure’s failure to return to the Porcupine Warriors after the break last season compelled the technical handlers of the club to isolate him from their activities making the management terminate his contract.
