Kotoko will play AshantiGold in a Ghana Premier League coronation match.

Asante Kotoko will be officially handed their Premier League trophy in a coronation game on Sunday against AshantiGold.

The game - a friendly is being used to officially crown the Porcupine Warriors as champions of the Ghanaian top flight for the second successive season.

The Premier League Board of the Ghana FA were unable to hand out the Premier League title on the final day of the season due to uncertainties over which club to emerge winners.

Kotoko were tied on 50 points with Berekum Chelsea going into the final round of matches in the Premier League.

There was a huge possibility of a title playoff had the situation at the top of the Premier League table remained the same.

This possibility was however rendered unnecessary with Chelsea losing 2-1 to relegation-threatened Heart of Lions and Kotoko beating mid-table side Amidaus Professionals.

It therefore led to the temporal postponement of Kotoko's coronation which will be honoured on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The match will however kickoff at 14:30 GMT due to the Ghana U20 team's crucial quarter final game against Chile at the World Cup later that day.
