Asante Kotoko’s youth team have left Accra to take part in the annual Blue Star/FIFA competition in Switzerland.

The Ghanaian champions sent out 18 layers from its youth side led by coach Karim Zito.

Kotoko’s General Manager Opoku Nti led the delegation that left Accra on Sunday night for the international youth tournament which will take place in Zurich.

The Ghanaian club will be competing for honours against nine other teams in the competition that kicks off on Wednesday.

The team looks to use the opportunity to impress the numerous scouts that attend the annual event in numbers in search of budding talents.

“We carefully selected competent and capable 18 young men who have the potential to impress both the organizers and the scouts that would be available,” Kotoko chief Opoku Nti said.

The team will tour the FIFA headquarters before the competition begins on Wednesday.

The competition is solely meant for players who were born from 1994.

The teams participating in this year’s event includes; FC Blue Stars (Switzerland), FC Sion (Switzerland), FC Zurich (Switzerland) and six time winners Grasshopper Club Zurich (Switzerland).

The others are; Benfica  (Portugal), Club Atletico Paranaense (Brazil), Bayern Munich (Germany), Olympiacos (Greece) and Villareal (Spain).
