AshantiGold declared losers for boycotting FA Cup quarter-final clash

Asante Kotoko have been declared winners of their MTN FA Cup quarter-final match against AshantiGold, who boycotted the match.

A Disciplinary Committee ruling on Tuesday after hearing arguments from both clubs concerning their match at the Accra Stadium on 13 April 2014.

The ruling read: "AshantiGold did not have a just cause for not honouring the match in Accra.

"That in accordance with GFA Regulations Article 34 (3) AshantiGold is declared losers of the FA Cup quarter final match with Kotoko to have been played on 13th April 2014. That provided in GFA Regulations Article 34 (5) (b) Kotoko are declared winners and have qualified to play in the semi-final of the FA Cup Competition.

"That in accordance with GFA Regulations Article 34 (5) (b) AshantiGold is ordered to pay GH¢1,000.00 and fifty percent (50%) of this amount should be paid to Kotoko."

By this Kotoko advance to the semi-final and set up a clash against city-rivals King Faisal  on Saturday.
