AshantiGold laboured to dispatch Mighty Jets 4-2 on penalties to reach the last eight of the MTN Ghana FA Cup on Saturday.

Both sides failed to score in regulation time and AshGold goalkeeper Bonsu made two saves to give the home side

The Miners lucklustre in regulation time and could not unlock the defensive play by the second-tier side at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.

The match lacked urgency and both sides could not produce clear-cut scoring opportunities in the first half.

Head coach Bashir Hayford made four changes to the side which beat New Edubiase United in the league last Sunday but his set up were far from convincing.

Their best effort in the first half came from Ivorian Didier Kore who struck from the box but goalkeeper Nkoom Baiden parried for a corner.

Mighty Jets should have shot into the lead before the half-time whistle but Jonathan Sacker could not finish off a rebound.

Striker budu Bawa was teed up by Musah Maati with a long ball but his first attempt was kept out by the stretched legs of goalkeeper Nana Bonsu.

The second period was the same with little highlights but AshGold looked purposeful only to be thwarted by a resilient Jets side.

Emmanuel Baffour, Emmanuel Osei, Alhaji Sannie and Ofosu Appiah all scored but Ivorian Didier Kore missed.

Mighty Jets had Emmanuel Nkansah and Ebenezer Odei scoring but Isaac Nartey and Benjamin Tetteh failed to convert their kicks.
